New York Yankees get blown out by the Miami Marlins


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 9-1.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he did not pitch well.  Miguel Andujar had two hits to lead the offense who only had four combined hits. 

Tanaka pitched five innings giving up eight hits and seven runs with six of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out five and took his second loss of the season.  Luis Cessa pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts, Chad Green pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and David Robertson pitched a perfect inning striking out the side. 

Jarlin Garcia pitched five innings giving up a hit and five walks with two strikeouts.  Garcia won his first game of the season.  Tayron Guerrero pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks and he struck out three, Drew Steckenrider pitched an inning striking out one and Kyle Barraclough pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Brad Ziegler pitched an inning giving up a run and struck out two. 

Brett Gardner drew two walks, Aaron Judge drew two walks and Didi Gregorius had a hit and drew two walks.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, Aaron Hicks drew a walk and Andujar had two hits and an RBI.  Andujar and Gregorius each hit a double and Andujar hit his first career homerun.  The Yankees were 0-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gregorius and Austin each committed an error and Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Derek Dietrich had two hits and an RBI, Miguel Rojas had a hit and drew a walk and Starlin Castro had two hits and an RBI.  Justin Bour had a hit and drew a walk, J.T. Realmuto had two hits and four RBI and Brian Anderson drew a walk.  Tomas Telis had two hits and an RBI, Cameron Maybin had a hit and an RBI and Telis hit a double.  Realmuto hit a homerun and the Marlins were 5-11 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Realmuto had a passed ball. 

In the first Castro hit an RBI single, Realmuto reached on a fielding error and two runs scored to give the Marlins a 3-0 lead.  In the second Dietrich hit an RBI single to push the Marlins lead to 4-0.  In the fifth Realmuto hit a three-run homerun and it was 7-0 Marlins.  In the eighth Telis hit an RBI single and Maybin hit a sac fly to make it 9-0.  In the ninth Andujar hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 9-1 and that was the final score. 

The two teams split the two-game series.  The Yankees will be off on Wednesday and then will begin a four game set with the Toronto Blue Jays.
